Hiking

The trails of the Pindus Mountains constitute an integral part of history for thousands of years.

During the Turkish rule the paths were paved with cobblestones in combination with watermills, traditional stone taps and bridges in order to serve the communication between the villages and the trade with caravans which embarked from this region to Moldona and Austria-Hungary.  In the 19th century and early 20th century famous travelers from around the world such as Poukevil and Hammond walked along the paths to experience the grandeur of Greek nature and look for traces of the past.

Beyond the full memories of history the ancient passages of Pindus attract every genuine nature lover as they lead through unique ecosystem diversity which has not yet been disturbed.

In the 80's two of the European long-distance paths were expanded in Greece: E4 and E6.

E6 starting from the Arctic Circle in Finland and descending south to the Adriatic Coast crosses Greece from the shores of the Ionian Sea and along the border areas to reach Thrace.

From the countless hiking trails of tiered difficulty you can choose between smooth and gentle ones or more difficult and adventurous ones.  Along with the experienced guides and attendants you will walk through wooded slopes, shady ravines, pass by preserved arched bridges, ruined watermills and encounter \ come across rare plants and animals.

You will stay overnight in a traditional guesthouse listening to stories of the locals by the fireplace and taste the traditional pies.

People of the Alpine Zone will make sure that you hike safe, show you the secrets of the place and compete you in tsipouro and appetizers / h'ordeuvres.
